Irish Surnames as Gaeilge
Irish surnames are spread all over the globe and are rightly a badge of honour showing where your family came from. Irish family names can tell stories they can reveal locations or even a family’s trade, such as a fisherman, for example. Murphy means sea-battler, Kelly bright-headed, and O'Sullivan dark-eyed. There are many different origins for Irish names today but the vast majority can be broken down into either of three categories: Gaelic Irish, Cambro-Norman, and finally Anglo-Irish. These are the top 100 from the Census records in Irish. It's a rolled A3 word art print in the map of Ireland designed by Susan Brambell which will fit into an IKEA Ribba or similar and it posts world wide in its tube.
